Understanding Intangible Cultural Heritage and Why You Are a Part of it Too; A Discussion with Linette Sabido from the Belizean Institute for Social and Cultural Research
On September 18th, 2020 Heritage Education Network Belize hosted a new Facebook Live, where we discussed Intangible Cultural Heritage with Linette Sabido from the Belizean Institute for Social and Cultural Research (ISCR).
The discussion tied in with the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Intangible Cultural heritage is a form of cultural or natural heritage that does not stop at monuments, objects, collections and sites. It focuses on traditions or living expressions that we inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants.
Intangible Cultural Heritage is especially relevant today with the new 2030 UN Goals for Sustainability. Passing down your traditions and knowledge to the next generation is part of "sustaining" the culture.
